Being sustainable and eco-friendly in the promotional products industry has increased over the past few years. From switching to solar energy to power facilities to using recycled and natural materials for manufacturing their products, suppliers and distributors are trying to reduce their carbon footprints and meet the environmental demands of their clients. According to the 2024 PwC Voice of the Consumer Survey, 80% of people said they were willing to pay more for sustainably produced or sourced goods. So how are suppliers meeting these demands? Recently, top supplier Hit Promotional Products spoke with members of the Facilisgroup Community about their recent sustainability and compliance efforts and what distributors need to know when selling their products. Here’s an overview of what was shared.

Making Products More Sustainable

During the webinar, Hit’s Director of Sustainability, Natalie Sheffey, discussed what it means to make products with sustainable materials. Instead of the company using virgin and new plastic, they use recycled versions of those materials. Same with plastics in general, adopting more natural materials including wood, plant fibers, and bamboo. Products like the Tree-Free Lemongrass Journal are made from upcycled lemongrass while the lid on the Bountiful Bento Box is made from bamboo. Not only are they using recycled and sustainable materials to make the products, but they are also using these same materials in their packaging including the use of recycled content bubble wrap and molded pulp packaging.

FSC Certified

Recently, Hit Promotional Products became FSC Certified. For those unfamiliar, FSC, or the Forestry Stewardship, is an international non-profit that promotes the responsible management of forests, tracking the wood and natural materials from the time it was harvested, through the manufacturing process, and then monitored as they are sold. All of their FSC-certified items as well as other sustainable products will be part of their latest Renew product line. This initiative transitions their top-selling items to materials that are less harmful to the environment, along with new product launches. Check out Hit’s Renew line HERE.
