HPG Tackles Brandfill with TerraCycle Partnership
If you’ve been in the promotional products industry for a while, you’ve probably heard of the term “brandfill” or promotional products that end up in our landfills. In fact, most brandfill accounts for a lot of the plastic in the dump or our oceans.
HPG is ready to help tackle this problem by teaming up with sustainable solutions provider, TerraCycle, to create the Zero Waste Box. The goal is to recycle pens, markers, and mechanical pencils and transform them into new material, breathing new life into the products. But who is TerraCycle and how does this program work? Here’s everything we know about the latest collaboration.
Who is TerraCycle?
Considered a leader in sustainability solutions, TerraCycle works with its clients and consumers to help develop programs to collect and recycle items that typically are not locally recycled. Items like beauty products, tote bags, aerosol canisters, pens, and markers are all collected and repurposed into something new.
How Does the Zero Waste Box Work?
As we mentioned earlier, HPG is teaming up with TerraCycle to create a Zero Waste Box for pens, markers, and pencils. So, how does it work? First, you’ll order your Zero Waste Box on HPG’s website. Next, you’ll set up the box in easily accessible locations for employees and begin collecting old and empty writing instruments. Once the box is filled, it’s shipped back to TerraCycle where the pens are then shredded and separated to then be used for something new.
Feedback From TerraCycle
Recycling and sustainability are top of mind for TerraCycle’s clients. For them, implementing these programs gives them an edge.
“The most important thing and what we hear from almost all of our partners is that recycling and sustainability are important. It’s important to our clients as well as to their end customers,” said Rhandi Goodman SVP, B2B, and DTC at TerraCycle. “What we hear time and time again is that offering a recycling solution or a sustainability program for their product and packaging, it allows them to separate themselves from the crowd and be at the forefront of their industry.”
The Zero Waste Box is just one way to make a difference within our community and the industry of your clients. To learn more about this incredible program and how to push this program to your own clients, check out their video on YouTube!
