Here’s an example of finding a need and filling the void. Tameka Peoples was hosting an event for her nonprofit and wanted to source items from black-owned businesses and companies, including t-shirts from black-owned businesses that sourced cotton from black-owned farmers. With a gap in the market, Peoples launched Seed2Shirt, the first black-woman-owned apparel manufacturing and print-on-demand company. Their products are made of ethically manufactured cotton from African and African-American cotton farmers.
